1 Combining Ideas - Maybe on Fri Sep 19, 2008 12:18 pm

I couldn't have possibly missed out on this.

This is in context with one of the courses which I have taken up this period. Its seminar computer animation. There were two talks that were given by my fellow classmates. The first was on "rhythmic motion synthesis" while the other was on the "control and simulation of respiration in human animation". While both the presentations proved to be quite a joy to listen to, a clear downfall in the second presentation on respiration simulation was the cost effectiveness. It's runtime complexity is 60 times more than a conventional simulation. Not too sure why the research was conducted or even asked to present. But leaving that apart there were clearly two questions that were underlying:

1. If respiration can be treated as a form of rhythm then can the concepts presented in the first paper be integrated with the second one?

2. In a motion capture lab can we plug in more controller points on the human chest\breast and capture the breathing?

Quite interesting considering that there hasn't been much done on this part of investigation. Do let the forum know if you end up having the "Eureka" moment.

The two papers are available in the following links :
